Porsche 918 Spyder Concept

Porsche proudly introduced its 918 Spyder concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The car promisses super car performance at 3 liters per 100 kms. Here is their press release:

Stuttgart. Presenting a high-performance mid-engined concept sports car with ultra-efficient, low-emission drive technology, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is further increasing the Company’s competence in hybrid technology.  The 918 Spyder prototype combines high-tech racing features and electro-mobility to offer a fascinating range of qualities: An emission level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre on fuel consumption of three litres/100 kilometres (equal to 94 mpg imp) truly outstanding even for an ultra-compact city car, on the one hand, combined with the performance of a super sports car and acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph) plus, and a lap time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT, on the other.

Porsche Panamera: A wasted opportunity

As a designer what better job can you imagine than working for a sports car company like Porsche and then get assigned the project to make the first production 4 door car for that iconic brand? Wouldn’t you just love to go all out and get the best you have ever produced into that project? If you replied yes, you might be one of the very few, at least seeing what the people whop actually got this assignment within Porsche managed to produce.

Starting with the simple center line section, the key to a good design and the key to something well proportioned, harmonious, especially if the brand is Porsche.One must wonder how that can be so screwed up as they managed to do in this case. Even simple cheap 4 door coupes like the Passat CC we recently showed you did a better job than this.
